The 30 Second Take: Content Consumption Breaks Along Generational Lines

HubSpot.com released the results from a recent survey of 3,000 consumers that looked at the channels that people prefer to use.

Top Line Takeaways -

1. Mobile wins the day - Younger/Older Millennials overwhelmingly prefer mobile handsets for cruising the internet (~66.5%) vs. the overall audience (48%)

2. Facebook rules - Younger consumers are actively using Facebook to find and curate content vs. going direct to a publication's website (18-34yr: 55% Facebook vs. 36% Go to Publication's website)

3. Video grows - Younger consumers clearly want more video content, where 65% indicated they want to see more content in the future.

What this means -

In the short term, this indicates that the hype around video is real and that people want to see more of it, which should factor into your KPI's and goals for campaigns. Does it mean a wholesale move to video content? No, but it should be a platform that you consider including in your campaigns as you account for in your buyer's journey and sales funnel planning.
